Design Inspiration
Raijin (雷神) is the thunder god of Japan, instantly recognizable by the circle of drums that surround him. In mythology he beats these drums to create thunder, sending lightning crashing across the sky. Often depicted as a fierce red oni-like figure, Raijin represents the violent energy of storms. Farmers historically both feared and respected him, believing that thunder helped bring rain and good harvests. Together with Fujin, the wind god, Raijin forms one of the most iconic pairs in Japanese mythology - two chaotic forces shaping the skies above Japan.
