Design Inspiration
The animal in this design is a tanuki, a creature that sits somewhere between real wildlife and pure folklore in Japan. While it looks like a raccoon dog, Japanese stories portray tanuki as playful tricksters that love disguises, pranks, and good food. The characters above read 喜び (yorokobi), meaning “joy.” It fits perfectly - tanuki are famous for their carefree spirit and mischievous humor, often reminding people not to take life too seriously.
